I feel that my dogs and I have been really lucky over the last month or so, and last weekend continued like that. Ivy had qualified at Avon and Weardale for the Olympia Novice semi-final at Stoneleigh in Birmingham. I felt quite unprepared for the event because Ivy was only just coming into fitness again after the weeks she had off for her cut. However, she ran beautifully in the warm up and looked as if she was starting to come back into performance, which made me think we were in with a chance.
She then pulled off a determined run in the qualifier, winning the event and taking her through to the next stage at Olympia in December 2012. She really put in a lot to help me in her run as there were some sections which for a less than completely physically fit dog, who does not have the longest legs in the world, demanded a lot from her. Lauren Langman finished 2nd, and Greg Derrett, 3rd.
