When we went down to Durham at the weekend for Ivy's first grade 6 show, I was looking for some reasonable handling from me, and maintenance of the criteria I have trained for from Ivy. I was not expecting Ivy to win four grade 6 classes and go grade 7... but she did. I suppose that is testament to how much little Ivy puts in to every run she does.
So, I can hardly believe it myself, but Ivy is now grade 7. It only seems like yesterday that she arrived in my life and started terrorising me as a young puppy :-). Last night she kept waking me up by dropping a paw onto my face. She's still so puppyish - I think she'll be puppyish for ever. I hope so.
Hayly also ran well and picked up some rosettes, but both Ivy and Hayly had runs that were not so good as well as runs that were, so despite the successes of the weekend, the show was a reminder to me of some of the many, many, many things I need to continue to work on, both in terms of my handling and in terms of what training I have given my dogs. Let's hope they continue to show me how to improve :-)
Ivy surprises me :-)
